The ArcGIS Data Store (ADS) is the "blackbox" backend database supporting the ArcGIS Enterprise system. The ADS is a required component in a 'base configuration' of ArcGIS Enterprise. Unlike some of the other components, the ADS does not need to be licensed and does not offer functionality except when it has been integrated with a corresponding ArcGIS Server Site.

The ArcGIS Data Store (ADS) is actually a PostGreSQL database that is exposed via a TomCat Web Server. This data can be directly accessed, but directly connecting to the ArcGIS Data Store (i.e., making an .odbc or .sde connection to the PostGreSQL instance) is not supported.

Note: the ADS also can have zookeeper, kafka, and other data pipeline components depending on how the ADS is configured.

  1. Launch the ArcGIS Data Store installer. The installer will unpackage the application and, when finished, will launch a web browser session where you can configure the instance details.

    1. Install (Application) Directory: C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\DataStore

    2. Service Account: NEOM\enowagissrv || N#0MenOw!2)3(

    3. Content Directory: D:\arcgis

  2. On the Data Store Configuration Wizard page, enter the following information for the the owning GIS Server:

    1. GIS Server: enowa-sgis-wps.neom.local

    2. Username: siteadmin

    3. Password: arcG1SS3rv3r.eno

Note: we input the 'siteadmin' details and not the 'portaladmin' details because, at this stage in the implementation, we have not yet federated the system. Once federated, the Data Store will use the 'portaladmin' account as its owning user.

At this stage of the process, we are ready to configure the roles of the ArcGIS Data Store. We are setting the ADS in Sandbox to function as both the Relational Data Store and the Tile Cache Data Store. On the subsequent configuration pages, click the radio buttons to specify the roles we want to configure.

The final page of the configuration dialogue confirms the build information and is shown below.

The ArcGIS Data Store has been successfully configured.
