Step 2. Create Primary Working & Organization Directory
As part of the implementation, it is important to keep things organized and consolidated to minimize the time spent trying to find resources.
Each component machine has a C: and D: drive. The C: drive is intended only for applications (i.e., //Program Files/... & //Program Files x86/...) as this drive is critical and runs the OS and should not be cluttered with additional data, processes, or unneccessary i/o.
On each machine's D: drive, there are two (2) default directories: D:\Accenture\ and D:\arcgis.
As new files and resources are created, be cognizant of where the data is going to exist and how you are going to access it.
The 'Accenture' directory contains the installation files, the licenses, notes, certifcates, and implementation resources. Additional sub-directories can be created to support additional activities, such as a sub-directory called 'testing' which could conceivably be used to store testing information, results, and data.
Note: Dollar-Sign references (i.e. //ENOWA-SGIS-WPS/d$/arcgis) are not supported by the ArcGIS platform. Do not use this reference convention.
